History

A few years ago, after personal experiences with traveling to visit relatives, acquaintances, and friends, Ayah knew that there had to be a better way for families in similar situations.  Although there were welcome houses that inmate families’ could utilize, their hours were limited to visitation hours, and their services were limited even more.

There just did not seem to be a ‘community for prison families’.

Many families that travel to prisons to spend time with their incarcerated loved ones, don’t live in the local areas.  Noticing that after visitation ended many of those families would retreat to their hotel rooms for the remainder of the day, Ayah and a friend whom she had met while visiting some years ago, decided to pursue their long time dream of opening a hospitality house (the first of many) for prison families.  For more information, please visit our Hospitality House page.

Knowing that although the Hospitality House would alleviate some of the stresses on the families, there was a need for a much larger entity to support and assist families that are affected and impacted by incarceration.

The idea originally known as ‘the Hospitality House’ has grown into Helping and Healing Families, Inc.
